Are you looking for tools to help you manage your mood, attention, or physical health? Join me for a free, one-hour online workshop hosted by River Valley Co-op to learn more about your autonomic nervous system.
Your autonomic nervous system (ANS) is the part of your body that manages your heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, digestion, and energy and alertness levels without you having to consciously think about them. Your ANS also influences your ability to focus, to relax or remain on high alert, and to connect easily and naturally with the people around you.
The good news is that even though our ANS operates without our conscious control, we can become aware of it and learn to influence it. Understanding and befriending your ANS can be powerful support for anyone healing with anxiety, depression, digestive issues, high blood, pressure, tension, headaches, or stress related ailments of any kind.
Participants in this workshop will gain:
A deeper understanding of and appreciation for the three branches of the ANS – parasympathetic, sympathetic, and social – and how they work together to keep us healthy and safe
Familiarity with what each branch feels like in its well-regulated, safe-enough state and in its threat management state
Tools for quickly settling your ANS in the moment to bring you back into your window of presence, and
Strategies for working with your ANS over time to shift your baseline to a more regulated state.
