Join me and River Valley Coop for a free two-part webinar series to help you live more comfortably in your body and respond to the world more in the ways you want to. In the first, we’ll learn about the autonomic nervous system (ANS), how it works to keep us safe, and how its threat response systems can make it hard for us to feel and respond the ways we want to.
The ANS runs our bodies, managing our heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, focus, and alertness. It gives us energy when we need to get moving and slows us down so we can rest and digest. It also constantly scans our environments for safety and readies us to respond to threats.
In our stressful environments, this threat-detection system can easily get out of whack, leaving us uncomfortable in our own skins. When you find yourself feeling hyped up, agitated, and unable to slow down, or detached, unmotivated, and unable to get going, your autonomic nervous system is likely involved.
In this webinar, we'll develop a simple practice for checking in and assessing the current state of your nervous system, and we'll get to know your own particular cues for sensing your ANS state. We'll then try out a variety of ANS settling and energizing techniques, connecting with body, breath, voice, movement, environment, and the beings around you.
You'll use your cues to discover which ones best help you shift your system. We'll end with some pointers for how to help others in shifting their systems.
Registrants will receive the link to participate live and an email when the recording is ready to access.
